WordPress Website Resources

This blog is about building WordPress Websites and is not directly associated with the WordPressfoundation.org, however I am one of their biggest fans! I would not even bother using any other content management system. ( I have tried my fair share)

Here is my collection of cool tools and websites that help me make money with my WordPress websites. I use these websites and tools everyday but this does not mean they will work for you. Please be aware that these tools (mostly free) and resources are listed here as a great source of information and I do not actually sell any of these products but will get a commission if you buy a product from some links. I have purchased most of them though, but only after long and tiresome research.

If you are making an online business you can only survive for so long on free tools. So if you are a newbie I recommend not going out and buying everything at once as you can easily start a business using free tools. When your business grows you will have to start buying software to automate some jobs, and even move to outsourcing other jobs.

Gathering resource before starting a business is not an easy task especially when we try to start online business we could not afford each and every tool available in the market so it’s worthwhile to start with free tools. your recommended tools are great and help every newbie to start his/her risk free business.

Very informative article.

There are some links here that are very heavy and bring back traffic to your site. But nothing beats automation. I recommend that if people are on a budget to stay away altogether unless you’re technical. Internet is a great drain to ones energy. You can be sucked into it;s virtual world.

Cheers!

OK Mitz,

(I will)

thanks again for your help & advice,

p.s. please feel free to check out our site and let me know what you think (at the moment I have only a greyish ‘subscriibe to emails) box but I’m gunna replace that with a nice pretty ebook picture and perhaps also add a specially designed opt-in page (though I might try and avoid the yellow highlighting and big red arrows ;-) )

thanks again & take care,
Alan

Hi Mitz,

great list – it would be even better if you could say a little more on each one. For now I have bookmarked this and being the IM n00b that I am, I will go through them and try and learn about each.

btw do you happen to know if mailchimp can be used instead of feedburner to send rss updates and do so to the same list you have used for the autoresponder. I only really want to use RSS but it looks like you can’t give a free ebook with feedburner (at least not in any secure way).

I don’t really want to send a series of emails using an autoresponder but it looks like I have to because I do want to offer a free ebook to new subscribers.

what would you suggest?
thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan..
I guess this is a work in progress and I will definitely add more details to it all..
Mailchimp does allow you to send out a rss feed email which lists your latest posts but I haven’t looked into the feedburner thing…Mailchimp is amazing so I guess it would do something for sure..

Mailchimp has extended their free account…And building a list is a good thing to do..Also giving away a book… I am not sure why people do not want to send a series of emails..You just give good information through auto series, hands free.. You do not have to be a pushy salesperson to send emails..

Reply

Alan October 23, 2011 at 9:05 pm

Hi Mitz,

My point wasn’t that I have anything against autoresponders, I don’t – however I just don’t need to send a series of emaiuls. If I’m updating the articles on our website every week anyway, then why would I also want to send my community a set of pre-generated emails on a schedule?

I do want to offer a free ebook though as it seems like a good way to entice people to join a subscription and a subscription in turn seems like a good way to gently remind readers about the quality content on our site.

So I need to find out more about Mailchimp, or just start playing around with it and give it a go!!

thanks Mitz,

take care,
Alan

Oh definitely do check out mailchimp…they have free accounts.. and it is great for many things like bringing people back to your site.. BUT..I started out a few years ago collecting emails on a free acount…then had to upgrade until getting to $100 a month to handle my list..It can be an expensive path if you do not use it to its full potential. :)

Alan Chatfield November 10, 2011 at 8:58 pm

Hey Mitz,

I actually still haven’t set up Mail chimp completely (though I started). The bit I’m really getting myself confused about is how having both an RSS feed and mail chimp works – I kind of understand it when both the email list and RSS feed are via feedburner but not the idea of an RSS feed and then an email list via mail chimp which has to be an autoresponder but is also used for sending updates.

Anyways, the main reason for replying to you again is I’ve seen you a little round the ‘blogosphere’ and wondered if you do guest posts. If you do, could you please take a quick look at our site and let me know if it’s the kind of thing you would guest post on, you can also drop me an email if that is easier,

thanks and take care,
