How to get a Yahoo Answer application ID key (API)

by mitz on January 6, 2010

I have a WordPress Plugin that requires a Yahoo Answer API key or application ID. For a while yahoo had disabled this service, however now it is up and running. Simply visit the link below to go to the right page.

https://developer.apps.yahoo.com/wsregapp/

  1. The first thing to do is put your Yahoo id in.
  2. Then check the box next to Generic. See where the arrow is pointing.
  3. Now the rest of the details are easy. Fill in your name, email, phone, etc.
  4. Then press continue.

The next page will appear with your application ID…How easy is that?

Now you can use that Yahoo ID in your WordPress plugin.

What kind of plugins can you get that need this and what is the advantage/use of it?

ps. I know you get swamped with spam Mitz but you missed a couple in this post ;)

Hi,

Do you need a different Yahoo! Application ID for each WordPress blog that you have?

I have a number of them for different web sites.

Or is one “Generic” ID enough for as many WordPress blogs that you might have? Thanks.

John

PS Thanks for the info here though.

Hi John, one generic ID is enough for any number of websites. Hope this helps.
